"I have yet to find anyone who is able to give me a satisfactory hair-do, that's why I choose to shave my head bald," says David Gan, renowned hair stylist for many big names.
A black baseball cap makes his trademark that some local sitcoms and comedy use to imitate. Perhaps, just like David says; that's the best image for him at the moment.
David Gan is not just a celebrities' hairstylist, he also has a fair share of close friends from the media industry. Once you get him talking about them, he is like a collector show-casing his "treasures".
"L'Chapitre Mariage"
We are not talking about David Gan's marriage of course, what's more interesting is his involvement in the next big thing: Fann Wong & Christopher Lee's celebrity titan wedding. The couple has announced for their wedding to be held in the coming year. For David who sees Fann as his own baby, how could he not be in the planning committee? What's more, David is actually the chief wedding planner to make sure the couple gets the most memorable one.
The wedding is set to be held in Singapore with an estimate of 1,000 guests attending. David has yet to come up with Fann's image for her big day but he is sure it will be fit his envisaged grand appearance of the couple. Fann's wedding gown, however, is said to have brought in three internationally renowned wedding gown designers to work on it.
International movie star, Zhang Ziyi, is also getting hitched soon. Ziyi has expressed that she would like David to be her stylist for her wedding, but much has yet to be finalized. David was absent from Hong Kong star Carina Lau's recent wedding as he was tied down by work at the point of time and that he is only an acquaintance with the groom, Tony Leung. David did however, send his blessing through SMS.

An image consultant for many year, but David will never forget his first job experience. Still a newbie then, David's job was to create an image for Carina Lau for a magazine cover shoot. Things went wrong with the earrings prepared for the shoot and David had to rush to the mall to get the replacement. Years have passed but memories are still fresh in David's mind as he recalls every detail from that day.
Ever since then, David has worked with so many more artistes that he eventually lost count. Some of his favorite collaborations include Felicia Chin, Fann Wong and Zoe Tay. Seeing how his works help artistes succeed gives David a sense of accomplishment. At present, up-and-raising new face, Elvin Ng, interests him the most. David prefers to work on less rigid artistes' images; therefore Elvin Ng's rebellious feel intrigues him.
"L'Chapitre Beaux Cheveux"
Started off as a hair stylist, David has his own standards when it comes to beautiful hair; shiny and flexible. His personal favorites: popular Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu (who has admitted to having the habit of not washing her hair!) and one of Caldecott Princesses, Joanne Peh.
David also has his own methods for daily hair treatment; more shampoo on the scalp to remove grease and clean up, while conditioners goes towards the ends of hair. These will give a healthy scalp with luscious and beautiful hair.
David also forecasted the round fringe and Bohemian style big curls to come into trend soon. What are you girls waiting for?
